MICROWAVE RADIO LINKS

Years of experience in the designing of point to point PDH and SDH microwave radio links in both star and ring network topologies for urban and rural applications makes this an Opticom Engineering speciality. Opticom Engineering employ university qualified and field experienced microwave radio engineers and field technicians that know microwave radio. As a result, allegiances have been forged with various microwave radio system and component suppliers allowing us to service any client’s microwave radio system.
Services Opticom Engineering can provide to clients include:

Line of Sight / Site Inspections

Depending on the distance of the proposed hop, Opticom Engineering can determine whether clear Line of Sight exists using techniques and aids including: high powered binoculars, mirror flashes, topographic maps and path profiles. This assessment takes into consideration Fresnel zone clearance and possible areas of reflections and future disturbances to inform the client of any potential long term problems that may arise.

Comprehensive Line of Sight reports are provided to the client including path profiles, wide angle and zoomed digital photographs of the proposed hop and the proposed mount positions on the structure, minimum heights and relevant notes the client needs to know in order to make an informed decision on the proposed hop - including, water crossings, excavations and building/structure developments along the proposed path.

Path Analysis / License Application
In order to achieve the client’s minimum microwave radio system requirements, the required annual availability figure, ITU rain rate zones, 9 second digital maps for Australia and 3 second urban digital topographical data for Sydney and Melbourne are used with the microwave radio system design platform.

Once the client is satisfied with the system requirements, Opticom Engineering can submit radio frequency license applications for frequency and interference assessment and subsequent licensing.

Microwave Radio System Installation/Commissioning
Opticom Engineering can install the microwave radio system complete with mounts, parabolics, waveguide or IF cable on any structure anywhere. In addition, Opticom Engineering employ microwave radio system technicians and engineers that can commission and test microwave radio systems providing you with comprehensive information on the system installation and performance.

IBC SYSTEMS (DESIGN)

Opticom Engineering can not only install the client’s in building coverage (IBC) system, but can also design the feeder, leaky coax and antenna system route through the site. Whether the site is a single repeater installation or a high-rise building with many repeaters, Opticom Engineering can design the system route for you.

Experienced and professional system designers who have designed and installed countless systems will personally go out to the proposed IBC site and inspect the complete installation, producing quality plans that describe the route through the building noting any issues or concerns that need to be addressed for the final system design.

DESIGN & FABRICATION OF STEEL & MOUNTS

Opticom Engineering provides a complete design and fabrication service for antennas, mounting structures and mounting systems.

Experienced and qualified communication riggers who are qualified civil designers and have had extensive experience in both broadcast and telecommunication infrastructure will go out to site and measure the structure to which the antenna is to be mounted to.

Opticom Engineering civil designers will then design a mount that will suit the client’s hardware loading requirements matched with the structural specifications of the structure. Engineering Certification by qualified and licensed civil engineers for the designed mount is also available.

Allegiances forged with steel fabricators and galvanisers make no steel fabrication and galvanising job too small or too large. Opticom Engineering Pty Ltd fabrication prices are extremely competitive, and knowing that we have personally gone out to site, measured, certified and designed the steel to suit the given requirements, client’s can rest assured knowing that there is only one point of contact for any information you may need.

Let Opticom Engineering become your turn-key provider for all your broadcast and telecommunication steelwork designing, fabrication and installation requirements.
